I made use of the Face Mesh feature in Spark to render my subject’s face in the best possible version fit for my narrative. My subject does not have a hair style and instead remains simply with a standard buzzcut as well as having no facial hair at all to emphasize the “empty” face I aimed to achieve. I found some templates that allow me to deform and shape the outline and features of the face to capture the smooth plastic like texture I wished to design. I also designed an icon that would emphasize the conditions within my setting, I opted to implement a scar underneath the left eye of my subject. I was intrigued by Eduardo Kac’s project in which he implanted a microchip on his leg but what interested me the most was the context behind it, he thought of such act as a measure of security and health benefit to the user as opposed to today’s view that such act might lead to negative effects such as hacking and government manipulation. The scar is a signature of those who have been marked and thus must live a beneficial life without self-expression just as the rest of those around him. In contrast to the single imperfection in his face, the skin complexion of my subject is greyish in color with white pupils, no signs of color. Also, the clothing is that of a traditional suit that is worn every day, both at work and outside, showing strict structure within society. On the other hand, I chose a technologically degrading dystopia and morphed it using the squared and rectangular 3-D objects featured within the app to mimic the transition to skyscrapers while making use of the texture options to change the perspective of the objects. Ultimately, bringing to life the persona within my narrative.
