Take Over

Take Over, 2023

3D printed sculpture, resin, clay, acrylic paint

14” x 8” x 4”

Take Over consist of multiple 3D-printed sculptures presented in a manner that seems to showcase deterioration and growth as the gaze moves from one copy to the other. The installed piece measures roughly fourteen inches in length, eight inches in width, and four inches in height; however, each sculpture varies in size to emphasize the difference in multiples due to the lack of detail as the decay progresses. I rendered a pre-existing file that contained the model of a building using Blender which I then digitally altered and transformed its composition. I used the sculpting tool to create multiple copies of the model in varying stages of decay to fully convey the theme of my design. Once printed I painted each copy with acrylic paint except the last one which is meant to represent both the medium it was created with and a lifeless shell compared to the rest. On the other hand, I physically altered the printed pieces by adding clay-sculpted elements that convey the message of growth by showcasing the natural course of nature; taking over what once was. The design of my piece is meant to take advantage of multiples to vividly tell a narrative based on each composition, developing the illusion of time through the building’s decay and the growth of new life through nature.
