Bio-Geometric is a sculpture mostly made up of wood with certain accents decorated using plaster. Its composition is meant to mimic the shape of an animal yet constructed in an abstract manner. The basic structure of my piece began by cutting individual pieces of wood using the jigsaw, which were later polished using the belt-sander and ultimately glued together, creating a miter joint. I sculpted a sense of movement by the manner the legs were constructed, using tenon joints to move each individual leg. The body is constructed of sanded rods of wood, a feature that is meant to mimic coral reef since the shape of my sculpture is meant to represent an ambush predator of the ocean. My artwork incorporates both abstract and organic composition to mimic a living object, it is meant to walk around and interact with the world, creating a sculpture that stands on its own.
